Permalink What am I looking at here? So the city wouldn’t let me install the mailbox without it having an engineered “break”. The idea was that if a car hit it, it should break off - versus breaking the car. I guess that makes sense :/ So we cut the mailbox post in half, and used a piece of (heavily drilled) wood. The joint is a few inches off the ground, so if a vehicle hits it, it’ll break right at this joint and the box will go flying (and the vehicle will be mostly spared, that’s the idea anyway :) Read more...
