It’s starting to become clear that Lucy’s change in behavior is the result of hormone changes. In fact she’s acting as though she just had a litter of puppies. What might a dog do who just had a litter of puppies? Well said dog would lick and bury everything. We can’t give Lucy anything without her burying it.
She also is a licking machine. She’s taken quite a liking to Lisa’s down coat on the futon.

Tonight Lucy was acting the slightest bit strange. She started shaking quite a lot and taking her temperature showed it to be 103.3, which is pretty high for a dog.
She is normally around 98 though before surgery she had gotten all the way up to 104.3. Her temperature does seem to jump around a bit, either way we called the vet just to be sure. We went to the same 24hr vet as before.

Yesterday Lucy had surgery because of a uterine infection named pyometra. The excellent folks at Peach Grove Animal Hospital did such a wonderful job. My wife and I are so grateful for everything they did do. Evidently despite her age, she went through the surgery with flying colors. The next morning she was even up and walking a bit sooner than dogs sometimes do.
Even as sweet as Lucy is, she’s a fighter.

It seems I’m a gluten for punishment. I couldn’t resist the urge to
apt-get upgrade This time the ramdisk survived, but madwifi-ng did not. In fact the 2.6.20-9 kernel doesn’t even seem to have madwifi-ng support at all. No wifi for me :/
On a much more important note, this morning we had to rush
Lucy to the vet for emergency surgery. We had noticed that she wasn’t acting right late Sunday.
